SSRA League 2008

We have just got the latest grading list from SSRA. I am still trying to get Eng Kiat downgraded. All the rest of us stay the same except for Frank who is now D2.

Looking ahead, we will need new captains for next years F and D teams. Anyone willing to volunteer to be captains for the teams?

Should also see if Evelyn wants to play for the guys F team. Johann is also a possible addition to the F team as I don't think he is listed in the grading list.

Who's Playing This Week?

Check this spot for who's planning to go down to the sports club this Month.

Courts Closure - 13-17 Aug, 1 Court Will Be Closed For Rectification Works

Court Closure 13-17 Aug For Repairs!

As you may have noticed, Court 2 has got a water-stain mark on the front left of the court floor while court 1 has got thick pieces of paint peeling off the front wall. (I wonder who is the one hitting so hard!).

My guess is that the water seepage has gone under the layer of plaster/paint and is causing it to peel.

The club has informed us that the courts will be closed to rectify these problems on from the 6-7th of Aug.
One of the courts will also be closed from 13-17 Aug for further repairs.

The Club appreciates the understanding of the squash section for the inconvenience caused, and we also thank them for acting promptly to the situation and keeping our courts in tip top condition.

17 Aug 2007
The courts are open for business again. Hopefully no further defects surface in the near future.

Inter-House Games - Squash

CLICK HERE FOR THE DETAILS OF THE RESULTS

Please note that there will be a new format of play for the inter-house squash game this year.

Tournament Duration : Games will commence on 3rd August'07 and all games must be played by 8th September'07

I have sent to the house captains a preliminary list of players available in their house. Captains are requested to send me their finalised lineup before we start the games (so that we can entertain any dispute).

Players are to be ranked according to their SSRA ranking.

Each house is to field 4 men and 1 lady for the games - total of 5 ties

Games will be played to best of 5 sets - British Scoring.

Scoring : 1 point will be awarded to each team for each tie won. One more additional point will be awarded to the house that wins the match.

eg. if Team A wins 3 ties and team B wins 2 ties, Team A gets 3+1 points and team B gets 2 points.

Score cards will be emailed to team captains for score submission.

Team Captains are as follows

Seletar - Jeremy Lee (96229889)
Tengah - Frank Foo (98554799)
Changi - Oma Koppe (94788996)
Paya Lebar - Felix Chen (96156022)

Club members who are able to represent their houses for the interhouse squash game can contact the house team captains directly.

SIA Squash Blog

Things are moving on...

We have now moved from a webpage at siasquash.tripod.com to this new blog so that we don't have to depend on one person to update the info. Anyone in the SIA squash fraternity can contribute.

It is also much easier to do housekeeping and getting rid of old info.

Hope that everyone contributes to this Blog. Happy Squashing.

Marigold Graded

End of the road for me! Played against a JC girl on the first day. Second day I played against the guy from SAFSA. I think Eric Yeow played against him during the league.

As you can see from the scores...i ran out of steam ha ha.

Rizal is storming through the ranks as usual.

SQ vs CX 2007

SQ vs CQ update - See Felix's comment below:

Guys and Dolls,

I am afraid I just heard that CX will not be able to make the June 29th date.

-From Ronnie-
June 29 is looking like a NO GO!
What I suggest we do now is, anytime between now and September, if we have 5 or more players coincidently having days off at the same time, we'll send a team over.
We'll be able to give a minimum of 2 weeks notice(likely to be more than that) for you to book courts etc.
It may be any day of the week(not necessarily a week-end).
And regardless of whether we can pull it off, we will host SQ next year.
How does that sound to you?

We were champions at WAST 2006 in UK

SIA beat Cathay Pacific in the finals to win the 21st World Airlines Squash Tournament held in London from th 18th-22nd of September'06.

This is our 3rd title win in the tournament, the last one 14 years ago when we won the title in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in 1992. Our other title win was in Singapore in 1991.

SQ vs SSC 2006

A morale boosting 7-0 win for the SIA team against Singapore Swimming Club just one week before leaving for the World Airline Squash Tournament in London on the 16th of September.

Jeremy & Eric Phuah [10 Sep 2006]

SQ vs CSC 2006

Congratulations to our Squash Team that beat their Chinese Swimming Club counterparts by a score of 4-3 in the annual bilateral games. It is our first win against CSC in 9 attempts.A lot of people were surprised during the presentation dinner that squash won. With our win, SIA managed to beat CSC with an overall score of 5-3( we also won bowling, tennis, golf, soccer but lost table tennis, badminton and one other sports).

Special mention goes to the ladies who helped tip the scale in our favour by winning their matches. Hopefully they will be able to do the same magic in the upcoming World Airlines Squash Tournament held in London in September.

Next bilateral games is 10th september against Singapore Swimming Club.

Jeremy & Eric Phuah [23 Aug 2006]
